The five-seater plane crashed into a residential area shortly after departed from Chofu airport in Tokyo, public broadcaster NHK reported.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or casualties. Japan's public broadcaster NHK said three people were involved in the accident and one of them had been rescued, but offered few other details.
At least three houses and two cars were on fire in the capital's residential district of Chofu, and the crash also damaged the roofs of other houses nearby, NHK said.

According to local media, two people on board and a female resident were killed.
